Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actor. She was born in Winnipeg and was raised in Wellington Paquin made her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she was awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at age 11 making the actress second to win an award within Oscar history. In response to a public audition, at nine she was Flora McGrath - the daughter of an Scottish mute pianist in the 19th century. Her family moved in New Zealand to marry an arrangement-based husband. In her teens, Paquin made the move to America. Paquin was played as the child character in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre in 1996. She also played the lead part in Fly Away Home, a film released the year. Paquin was a part-time actress in the TV film of 1997 adapting Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad her character was the queen of Spain as a minor character. She played teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) and A Walk on the Moon (1999) and portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa as a character in Almost Famous (2000).
